For the past years, we have been sending money to the village, which financed the purchase of dairy cows and allowed schooling.
In thanks for donations, a school in Tumaï was recently built.
By purchasing an A4 print for 40€, with DOUNIATOU, association 1901, and Nadia Ferroukhi, you contribute directly to the village to provide itself with medicines, urgent raw materials and food...
All the money is directly donated to the village.
Since 2001, Kenyan women (Samburu and Turkana tribes) living near Mount Kenya, 300 km north of Nairobi, gathered and founded a "women's Village" Tumaï. Men are excluded from it, with the exception of male children, until their passage in the adulthood, approximately 16 years.
The women are totally self-sufficient (hunting, business, sacred rites…) and take important decisions through a general assembly with the voters’ majority. They decided for example to eliminate the practice of excision.
Since the riots of December 2007 in relation to the Kenyan elections, the women of Tumaï, who lived essentially from the sale of their arts crafts to the passing tourists, find themselves in a serious crises, with no more visitors in Kenya, it effects them directly
Last October, the women of Tumai were invited in Congo, in Bukavu, to speak about their model of women's village to rape victims. Gold diggers from Rwanda and Burundi brutalized these Congolese women.
